Conference: WHAT DOES “CLIMATE LEADERSHIP” LOOK LIKE FOR EUROPE?

As the UN Climate summit COP 21 in Paris approaches, Europe’s leaders have again expressed the intention to position Europe as a global leader addressing climate change. European frameworks for regulation of GHG emissions from petroleum refining and road transport already in place are being reviewed by the European institutions to enable these sectors to contribute to the overall EU decarbonisation target of 40% by 2030. The conference will discuss the effects of the current regulations, consider the revision proposals from the European Commission, examine how these align with the climate goals and leadership ambition, and also consider some alternative approaches.
